    Nur-Motorsport Toyota MR2 Mk2

    17th December 2010

Since the last update the MR2's bodywork has been completed in its preparation for moulding.

The car was sent to our bodyshop where it was primed and lacquer sealed, then a final rub down was done to ensure a perfectly smooth finish for the moulds. At the front end we removed the thick radiator grilling and reinforced the lower section of the duct for the mould, and final details were smoothed in.

The car is now being waxed to ensure easy breaking when the moulds are made, and we hope to have the new carbon parts very soon.

    27th November 2010

We have completed the aero kit for the MR2 and the car is now in the bodyshop being base coated to allow us to take moulds from it in the near future. The bodywork has been thoroughly modified in order to increase downforce and engine cooling, which is a common problem with these cars.

A front splitter is mated to the front bumper in order to increase downforce and stability, this is smoothed into the front wheel arches. We have employed extended sills to prevent bleeding of air from the sides to the underside and thus keep the downforce below. Vents behind each wheel evacuate hot air from the brakes and keep flow moving through this area. A vented flat engine lid will feed air to the engine and cooling devices, whilst a fan arrangement pulls the hot air from the bay and vents it through the boot and vented rear panel.

As you can see the completed item looks very purposeful and should provide a good level of downforce and sufficient cooling for this and an upcoming engine converted MR2. We are keeping the individual items as separate as possible to allow customers to make a modular upgrade to their car with our parts. Stay tuned.

    9th October 2010

We have recently restarted work on the MR2. The wheelarches are having the final touches made to them before they are finalised, blended and moulded to form carbon parts. We are taking a good deal of time to ensure that they are perfectly aligned and as wide as we want them so they work well with the wheels and offsets that we are likely to be using. We have also installed H and R anti roll bars front and rear to help the car handle better.

    11th September 2010

We have now reinstalled the dashboard which is mandatory for the series that we are running in. All unnecessary weight has been removed from it as with luxury items that are usually behind the dash such as the heater and stereo. Also we have installed lightweight plastic windows and have begun mocking up the wide arches that will be needed to house the much larger wheels. These will be in an aggressive style opposite to those of the Supra, as you can see below.

    30th April 2010

We have received the MR2 back from Andy Robertson Racing who have installed a fully FIA and MSA compliant roll cage for us in the Toyota. This more than meets the requirements for the series that we plan to run the car in and will ensure all occupants are safe throughout track use.

Also we have now installed the BC Coilover suspension units to all four corners of the car to ensure good handling and this will be followed with KSport brakes soon.

    2nd April 2010

We have just taken delivery of a Mk2 Toyota MR2 with a variety of modifications already carried out to it, including:

    Rota Boost 17"Wheels
    Defi Gauges
    HKS Air Filter
    HKS SSQV Dump Valve
    Carbon Dials Surround
    Short Shift kit
    Apexi AVC-R Boost Controller
    Momo Steering wheel

We will be developing this car for track use, the CSCC Future Classics championship which includes Oulton Park on June 12th, Nurburgring on June 20th and Spa on July 4th and aim to enter it in the Time Attack Championship for the last two rounds at Cadwell Park on 1st August and Snetterton on 10th October.

Planned changes include a wide arch kit, increasing the wheelbase, extensive engine work with a Solaris ECU bringing us to 450-500Bhp and a race spec interior, which is being stripped already and also a full FIA Approved weld in roll cage will be fitted on Tuesday. It will also have the usual array of safety features required in these championships including FIA approved seats and harnesses and a plumbed in extinguisher.

In addition we will be upgrading the wheels to 18 inch to allow use of our current range, KSport brakes will be fitted alongside BC remote reservoir coilovers and the front end will be blended into the widened arches with a custom Nur-Motorsport Splitter.
