  • [Desporto] Avensis no BTCC

Toyota has released first illustrations of the Avensis Next Generation Touring Car (NGTC) racing concept.

Scheduled to make its track debut at this year's final round of the Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship (BTCC), the Avensis NGTC will be designed and engineered by GPR Motorsport in Buckingham as a test and development model.

With the anticpation of new BTCC rules in 2011, GPR Motorsports has been given a donor car and bodyshell to build using the new specifications.

When the Avensis NGTC makes its first public race appearance at Brands Hatch on 9 – 10 October, James Thompson, a BTCC double champion, will be at the helm.

Toyota has stated there are no plans to re-enter the championship with a works team, but has been pleased to lend its support to ToCA (Touring Car Association), appropriately with the British-built Avensis which is manufactured at Burnaston in Derbyshire, close to the Donington Park race circuit.

O carro tá com muito bom aspecto, só espero que os resultados também venham acompanhar. Mas para já é de louvar a entrada na Toyota em ambientes desportivos. Pode ser que isso depois se note nos veículos produzidos...

Dynojet Race Team has revealed the first details on their own version of Avensis BTCC car. Their model will be powered by a 2.0-liter turbocharged power unit adapted from one of Toyota’s road-going range. With the help of a turbocharger and a number of internal revisions, the team hopes to boost power output from around 140 HP in road specification to 300-plus HP.
Dynojet Race Team chief Frank Wrathall Snr said: "The Avensis has been designed to the ‘Next Generation Touring Car’ rules, which means we could have opted for the stock TOCA engine, however we were enormously impressed by the plans put forward by X CTech R and felt that this was the right way for us to go, not least because it means our Avensis will be 100 per cent Toyota."
The new Avensis BTCC car will make its debut at the Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship scheduled for 3 April at Brands Hatch, Kent.
